SONAR FLEET 1
NOROTON YACHT CLUB

FLEET RACING:

Sunday, July 17

A perfect day for racing. Sunny, SW winds 10-12 kts...it just doesn't get any better. There were 11 Sonars out taking advantage of day, and competing in the Vice Commodore's race which was the first of three races that day.

Randy Tankoos sent us on a D2 with legs about a mile long. The race got underway after one general recall, we were all anxious to get going. As in past days, the fleet stayed close together, creating some interesting mark roundings. In the end, Scott Harrison won with Team 360 breathing down his transom the whole race. Scott's team included (l to r) Warren Costikyan, their new rock star tactician Maggie Costikyan, Scott and Adam Westerman.

Word is Maggie is in negotiations for a long term contract. Terms include filling that first place glass with her favorite G2 flavor, Cool Blue.

Taking full advantage of the day, Randy then ran two more races, a D1 and a W1. Scott was able to hold   off some tough competitors to win the day as well.

A special tip of the hat to Team 756, Vespa, who has been showing much improved speed lately, finishing with a 5 in one race.

FLEET RACING:

Sunday July 10:

We were able to complete two races on Sunday. Finally. The first race of the day was the Commodore's race, hosted by Art Collins and Tom Ross. They sent the fleet of 16 competitors off on a D2 in about 6 knots out of the east. Racing was tight with lots of interesting...communication...at each mark rounding. In the end, our newest fleet member, Cathy Hoyt won the race. Cathy was joined by (l to r below) Will Graves, Monique Rohder, Cathy and Roland Singer.

Coming in second was Bob Monro sailing with Peter Wilson, son Ian and Fran Monro.

Third place was Lee Morrison with Christi Hart, Susan Morrison and Will Andre (not pictured).

Sunday was also the completion of the July 4th Series. Two races counted towards this series. In the end, just look above to see the first three finishers.

The scores are as follows:

Hoyt       1 - 2
Monro     2 - 3
