The start of the 2014 racing season is approaching fast. We have some important announcements for everyone...
FLEET 1 MEETING:
We will hold our annual fleet 1 meeting at the club on Sunday May 4, from 5p-7p. Lots to discuss about the upcoming season. Beer and snacks will be provided.
CREW TRAINING:

Our third annual crew training seminar is scheduled for Saturday June 7, from 9a-4p. The format will be similar to last year. 9a-12n classroom to discuss the basics of sailing including boat handling and rules. 12n-1p will be lunch (the snack bar will be open or bring your own) and rigging and launching. Then it's on-the-water for some real experience and fun races.
We need volunteers to take out their boats and train the participants. We have found that the best way to help the students, to make their experience as worthwhile as possible, is to have two people on board who are proficient at boat handling. Please keep this in mind when offering to take out students.
We need you, your boat and one of your normal crew to go with you.
The more boats we get, the more students we can have join us. Please send me an email if you would like to help out.

WOUNDED WARRIORS:
Jennifer French will be hosting a Warrior Sailing Bootcamp in Norfolk, VA the last week of May using the Sonars from the Hampton YC. They would like to bring their own sails and preserve the YC sails.
They are in need of 2 jibs and 3 mains. If you would care to donate sails, the donation would go thru the USMMA Sailing Foundation. They will issue a tax deduction letter with a donation.
Gene Hinkel will be coming through Darien in a couple of weeks and can pick up any donated sails.
Let me know if you you would like to donate to this worthy cause.
SONAR REGATTAS:
The first of this season's regattas is only four weeks away. The Tappan Zee Challenge, hosted by the Nyack Boat club is scheduled for May 17-18. This is a great, easy, convenient way to start the season. If you have not sailed in the TZC, you should give it a try.

The TZC is followed by the New England Championship, hosted this year by Falmouth YC, on June 28-29. Falmouth is also hosting the 2015 Sonar World Championship so this is a great opportunity to sail at the venue and experience the local waters.
It would be great if we could get 5-6 Noroton boats to make the trip.
