Fleet Racing:

Our first fleet race for the 2010 season was this past Sunday. The conditions were challenging with a 10-14 kt breeze out of the east, some nice waves and best of all...fog! Thanks to PRO Jim Crane and the rest of the RC, we were able to get three races in.  

Lee Morrison with crew Glenn Morrison (pictured above), son Alex Morrison and Don Vasta were blazing fast, taking three bullets! 

Here are your top three finishers for Sunday May 23:

Long Island Sound Championships:
 

Noroton YC is hosting the Sonar LIS Championships on June 19-20. You can enter now by going to the Sonar Class site at http://www.sonar.org/ and entering the Member's Only section. A $50 late fee will be assessed to those who register after June 5 so plan ahead and register today.

Changes to the SI's 

As a reminder, we have instituted a revision to our SI's. To encourage boats to take penalties, we have revised rule 44.1 to allow a one-turn penalty for a boat that breaks a rule in Part 2 while racing.

New SI's will be posted on the Noroton website by the end of the week

It’s time to remove the shrink wrap! The 2010 season is upon us. Fleet racing begins a little earlier this year. Our first race is Sunday, May 23. That’s just ten days from now. Can you believe it?

Fleet 1 Update:

For those who couldn’t make our fleet meeting last weekend, there are a couple of items you should be aware of...

1. Right now my plan is to keep everyone in the same dry sail spot as last year.

2. Noroton is hosting the LIS Champs on 6/19-6/20. You can register online at www.sonar.org in the Member's Only section. Let's have a big turn-out from fleet 1.

3. The North American's is in Marblehead this year. 9/24-9/26

4. Fleet dues is $50. Please send a check, made out to Sonar Fleet 1 to Jean Galloway. This is in addition to renewing your SCA membership, which you will need to do to compete in the LIS Championships.

5. The Sonar fleet will be handing out trophies to the top three finishers of the holiday series: Memorial Day, July 4, Labor Day, immediately after racing those days. All other trophies will be given out at the end of the year.
